Overview

Academia has been developed in phases over the last twenty four years. The last phase comprises two new blocks, housing 72 students in total. These blocks will be placed between current blocks 23, 24 and 25, 26. The sketch below shows the location.

Programme

Site establishment will commence in late November 2024 with a view to complete site establishment in December and complete the project by end June 2025

Safety and security

The Academia appointed health and safety consultant will monitor the project and ensure that all health and safety protocols, municipal by-laws and ordinances and legislation are strictly complied with.

Contractor vehicles will enter the building site from Banghoek Road, thus not compromising the safety and security measures at our Bosman Street security gate.

The building site will be fully cordoned off with a fence and provided with an electric fence.

The building entrance from Banghoek Road will be secured on a 24-hour basis.

Noise, dust and disturbance

We are fully aware of the needs of students in this regard. The building programme has been compiled with the academic programme and examination time-table of the University in mind. We will at all times co-ordinate any noisy work with the students in order to minimize the impact. The builder has completed projects for the University under similar conditions and is familiar with student requirements.
